This paper presents a model for managing the AEC design from a lean perspective. The model, through its constituent components, aims at achieving lean philosophy objectives, such as, reduction in the share of non-value adding activities, increased transparency, process simplification and increased output flexibility. The model has been called Process-Parameter-Interface model. The entities associated with the model include a Design Dictionary, an Interface, the model engine and an information-based design dependency matrix. These entities enable the design management capabilities in the model, with a focus on lean philosophy.
